RBRW Radio: Chloe and Sydney Dao
We are so excited to launch our new show, Real Beauty Real Women Radio, on Houston's KYND Radio 1520 AM. In keeping with the brand, RBRW Radio's weekly show will feature guests representing the intersection where beauty, glamour and entertainment meet social responsibility. Last week's show kicked off with two of Houston's favorite fashionista sisters, Chloe and Sydney Dao.
You can link to the show here and learn about how their family immigrated and how the sisters found their way as successful entrepreneurs in the world of fashion. We also wanted to share a little more about this dynamic duo and why they are truly Socially Conscious Fashionistas!
You may know Chloe Dao as the Project Runway Season Two winner. While she runs a successful fashion business and gives back to up-and-coming designers with informal coffee meet ups, she uses her own experience as an immigrant to support The Community Cloth. The Community Cloth is a microenterprise initiative empowering refugee women in Houston. It targets economic, educational and social goals through the provision of seed grants, training, and peer support, and by expanding market opportunities for refugee women artisans.
Chloe is active in the community, often holding in-store fundraisers for local charities, creating special merchandise for them, and as a volunteer for Girls Inc, Dress for Success, and the Salvation Army.
A few of Chloe's favorites:
Favorite Beauty Products? Anything Korean.
Favorite Book? Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
Favorite Hobbies? Reading, Tennis, and DYI Projects (hint: her store is full of them!)

Chloe's younger sister Sydney Dao found her niche as a fashion publicist in New York, working with major fashion houses to launch their brands. Appropriately, she is now the Director of Retail for LAUNCH. What started out as a vision to promote local Houston designers and artisans during the Super Bowl quickly became a Houston success story and permanent fixture in the Houston fashion scene, not only launching and incubating new local artists, but also creating a safe space for them to learn from their peers and experts to ensure brand viability.
One of Sydney's favorite local charities is United Against Human Trafficking, and she stays very active as a board member of the Fashion Advisory Boards for Houston Community College, the Art Institute of Houston, and University of Houston, as well as on Nicole's Garden.
A few of Sydney's favorites:
Favorite Beauty Products? Ellis Faas foundation, Lucky Cat Beauty eyeliner and "Sydney" lipstick, Bare Minerals power.
Favorite Book? A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle.
Favorite Hobbies? Does shopping count?
